Shanta Dhariwal

Certified Yoga Teacher

I discovered a love of movement at a young age, and studied ballet, as well as many other dance forms growing up. I found yoga for the first time in my mid twenties, however it was not until becoming a mother almost a decade later that I really found a deep love and connection with my yoga practice. It is the chance to make time for myself and connect to the deep feeling of Self.

My yoga journey has taken me from a physical practice to one of mental and spiritual growth. Yoga gives me strength, both mentally and physically and it has enriched my life in so many ways.  I felt compelled to study this ancient Indian practice of self development, and to gain a deeper understanding of yoga as a philosophy for life. As a complete system of personal growth and development.

This calling led me to India to connect with my heritage, my father is Indian from Rajasthan, and immerse myself in the yogic way of life in an Ashram in Tamil Nadu. I completed my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training course in Madurai, India at the Sivananda Ashram.

I completed my Level 1 and Level 2 Reiki training in India with Kumud Bothra, who trained directly with the world renowned Reiki Master, William Lee Rand. I am passionate about Reiki and enjoy sharing this beautiful energy with others.

I have completed the Happiness Program at the Art of Living Ashram in Bangalore, and I am a dedicated daily practitioner of the Sudarshan Kriya breathing technique and of the practice of meditation.

My yoga classes and Reiki treatments are in the Newington area of Edinburgh, Scotland. I have experienced so many benefits from my yoga practice, both physically and mentally and I want to share the benefits of yoga with others!
