Being Present

In today’s fast paced world many of

us struggle to live in the present moment. Through breathing, relaxing and moving we connect with our mind, body and soul to enhance our feelings of calm, strength and inner peace and to help us to stay present. This yoga class teaches you the skills of combining breathing and relaxation to turn inwards, to slow down and

to become more aware of yourself.

Yoga Style

I teach Sivananda Yoga, which is a traditional style of yoga, popular in India, where I completed my training. The class begins with a short relaxation (Savasana),  a breathing exercise (Pranayama) followed by the warm up of sun salutations. We then hold postures (Asanas) in stillness to allow you time to feel the benefit of each position. The class ends with a longer relaxation. In the western context of the word the style of yoga I teach would be considered Hatha yoga. (However please note that the word Hatha in its original context means all forms of Asana practice.)

The Studio

The studio is a beautiful, calm and bright space. My classes are small, allowing for five students at a time. This gives the class an intimate feel, where you can relax fully, and focus on yourself. The setting means I can see all my students, and you can see me. In this relaxed environment you can feel less self conscious, more comfortable to ask questions, and receive more individual attention.

Claire's Review

Claire

Shanta is a wonderful yoga teacher. She has a gentle, professional approach which creates a lovely, calm experience. I highly recommend her yoga sessions. At the end of each session I feel that I have a great stretch that my whole body benefits from. I also get a great sense of relaxation and inner peace, that I sleep much better for after each session!

Lora's Review

Lora

Yoga with Shanta is a highlight of my week. Shanta combines her gentle and reassuring teaching style with her thorough love of Yoga. She combines the core poses with less common ones so I always got to try something new. Since joining her class I’ve really mastered yoga breathing which is always found tricky before.

Louise's Review

Louise

I am a complete beginner to yoga, so I booked a one-to-one session with Shanta and felt completely at ease straightaway in the calming atmosphere of her studio. Shanta is a fantastic teacher and also came across as a genuinely warm and caring person. She breaks down the poses, so that they are easy to follow and understand, and also gives variations that are suitable for less flexible beginners like myself.
